I am doing some research on a portion of my family tree that includes the Hills' and Smiths' in Morgan county. Some of the information I have gathered is included below and was extracted from the www.RootsWeb.com website.
1. Micajah Hill b. Abt 1770 Buried in Little Indian Cemetery, Cobb Hollow,
Morgan County
+ Dorcas or Elizabeth ?
2. Mary Hill b. Abt 1822 d. 6 Apr 1856
+ Sherrill Smith, Sr b. Abt 1820 d. 21 Sep 1845
3. Alexander Smith
3. Nathaniel Smith
3. Jonathan J. Smith
3. Sherrill Smith, Jr b. 28 Dec 1845 d. 30 Aug 1914
+ Elizabeth Betty Ryan 18 Mar 1844 d. 9 June 1925

I have a good listing from Micajah Hill down through to the present including all children, spouses etc but I am trying to move further into the past with his name and also trying to find out what his wifes name really was, can you help? I also keep hearing old tales that say that their is a linkage with native American ancestry here so if you have any data supporting either and are willing to point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. 259 Pace Circle Oxford, AL 36203

A gggggreat grandfather of mine and his wife moved into Moragn County in the early 1800s -- John J Morris and Eliza Young. I understand they are buried in the county, but have not found much about them at all. Is this a way I can find their dates of death, places of burial, maybe a will, anything? I understand Eliza died in 1874 and is buried in Piney Cove Cem. They had a number of children (Van Buren Morris is his son thru whom I am decended), which I do not know if they were born in Morgan County or in NC where the couple were married. Possibly they lived somewhere in between NC and AL, but I haven't gotten that far. Anything I can find out about John J Morris would be great!

C. Baty 12/13/2003

I have been researching the family of John F.[letcher] Baty whom married Mary Jane {Wright}, 10 Jan.1873, in Howell Co., MO. I have found 13 children born to them in Howell Co., between 1874 and 1895, then they moved to Indian Territory, [later Oklahoma]. Johns' death certificate states he was born [Jan.1844] in Marshall Co., AL. I can't find any trace of John, in census or any other records prior to this marriage.I did find a John Baty in 1870 Morgan Co., Al. census, but can't be sure if he is the same John.A possible for parents are William G. Baty/Beaty & Sallie Grisham, not certain though, as some family members think he was actually born to a Wiggins family then adopted by the Baty/Beaty family at an early age. Don't know who his siblings were but present family members state that they think were several. Maybe 16 I would like to hear from researchers that show John F. as an ancestor or sibling of their ancestor, that might have further info., about his parents or siblings.Hoping some one has some reliable info. or can tell me where to find such adoption records if in fact there were such records in Alabama in the 1850 time period. Thank you-
