I'm interested in any factual information concerning Katherine Grayson who appears on the 1830 Franklin Cty. Census. She was married, previously, to Col. Peter Grayson who died in Tuscumbia, AL. Feb. 1, 1816. He was Colonel of Cavalry and Adj. Gen. to MG. Carroll's Tenn. Troops at the Battle of New Orleans the previous year. I presume that the land she had was a grant for his services during the war. I never saw her on the 1840 AL Census or on the MS. Census where some of her children lived. I concluded she died during the intervening years. I was never able to find out where (1) Col. Grayson and (2) Katherine Grayson were buried and what they died of. Did Katherine Grayson have a will? Were there any deeds or bills of sale? I believe they were Anglican since his father was an Anglican minister ordained by the Bishop of London just before the Revolution. Col. Grayson was a professional soldier who had fought the Shawnee under St. Clair and Wayne. He had fought at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. His wife's name had been Kitty-Callaway Thorpe of Bedford and Campbell Counties, VA. Thank you for your help.

BLEVINS-BEAN-DONLEY. I am trying to help a friend who is not online. Her grandmother was Blanche OpheliaBLEVINS, b. 16 Apr 1859, Russellville, AL. At the 1870 census she is listed in the household of James & CarrieBEAN, with older sister Carrie BLEVINS and younger brother Charles BLEVINS. Blanche's death certificate gives Charles BLEVINS as her father. What happened to Charles, and who was the mother of these 3 children? Carrie BEAN was only 12 years older than Carrie BLEVINS; she may be an aunt? Blanche married c1881 to Charles A.DONLEY, b. Sep 1860, possibly Colbert Co. AL; their first child was born Mar 1882 in Arkansas. The family went to Fort Bend Co. TX about 1895-6. Will share info with anyone researching this line.

MarkELLEDGE (ELLAGE, ELLIGE, ELDRIDGE) is listed in the Franklin Co, AL census of 1850 with his wife SarahFANNON (FANNING) and the following children: Madison, 19; Martha, 15; Martin, 15; Stephen, 13; Benjamin F., 5; Martha Jane, 11; Mary E., 8; Cintha, 6; Ann, 4; and Sarah, 1. Why are they listed in two groups of descending age? Is the second set a set of step-children? The presence of a Martha and a Martha Jane would suggest that. The 1840 census in Lawrence Co. only accounts for 4 children suggesting that Martha Jane was not in the household. (The others weren't born yet.) In 1860 (Franklin Co) the children are Elizabeth, 19; Cyntha A., 17; and Benjamin F, 15 (along with a J.D.BARBEE, 27, clergyman). Help me find Cintha's parents. Mark ELLEDGE was a War of 1812 veteran from Pendleton Dist, SC. He was the son of Abraham ELLEDGE, a Revolutionary veteran who came to north Alabama. Mark was also in Jackson Co, AL in 1830.

THOMPSON/THOMSON -- Malcolm THOMPSON born ca 1784 in NC, died before 17 Feb 1853 in Franklin County, AL.  His children listed were Daniel of Franklin County, AL, Catherine wife of Samuel Moore of Limestone County, AL, Christina wife of Absolom Glaze, Jr. of Limestone County, AL, Margaret wife of Terrill A. Bridges of Mississippi, and Mary Ann wife of Alexander Montgomery of Lawrence County, AL.  I am look for any information on Malcolm, his parents,
siblings, wife, etc.  My ancestor is his daughter, Catherine wife of Samuel Moore.  In the 1850 Census of Limestone County, a younger Malcolm and a Duncan Thompson are living next door to Samuel Moore.  What is their connection to Catherine?  Are they her brothers, not listed in the Deed records, or are they her nephews?  Any and all information will be appreciated.
