Seeking data on the ancestors and descendants of William CARNEY and siblings. Four Carney men were established in Davidson Co, TN by 1798. Elijah Carney and Vincent Carney bought land on Dry Fork Creek the same day (6 Jun 1809). John Carney and William Carney bought land on near-by Marrowbone Creek in 1812. William married Rebecca GULLEDGE; Elijah married Elizabeth C. GOLDSBERRY; Vincent married (1)Polly GOLDSBERRY (2) Hepsey Brinkley; Lucy Carney, their sister, married John BLACKBURN; another sister, Martha “Patsy” Carney, married Edward BLACKBURN. Family records appear to substantiate the children of Elijah and Vincent. Most Carney researchers are reasonably certain that Asa, Jesse T., Joshua, and Ennis Braxton Carney were the male children of William Carney. (Joshua Carney and his first wife Sina Paralee BINKLEY were my 2g-grandparents). In the 1840 Davidson Co Census, these four young men lived on property (now in Cheatham Co) adjoining William's who was then between 60 and 70 years old.

I am researching my SMITH family. My 3rd great grandmother was Charity SMITH, who was born "East of Nashville, TN" (probably Davidson Co.) in Nov 1800. Her father was Zadock (or Zedeck) SMITH. I know of two other siblings of hers.... Eliza Ann SMITH and Eaton (or Steadman) SMITH. In 1820, the family had moved on to Bond Co., IL and Charity SMITH and her sister Eliza Ann SMITH both married LEE brothers. Charity married John LEE and Eliza Ann married Frederick LEE. Their brother, Eaton SMITH acquired land in Henry Co., Iowa and sold it to his sister Charity's husband, John LEE in about 1836 or so. The John LEE and Frederick LEE families, along with the families of two other LEE brothers and a sister (Jane PRICKETT) all moved to Henry Co., Iowa.
