Vaughn Family Record

John W. Vaughn, of Bogalusa, La. Who has assembled more information about the Vaughn family than any one I know, states that he found a Joe Vaughn in the census of 1700 in Stickes Co., No. C. Susie Pulliam was born in what is now Robertson Co., Kentucky.  It is his assumption that Joe Vaughn, being young and adventurous, joined one of the expeditions to the West.  Possibly one of the Rogers and Clark Trips.  In passing through Kentucky, he met and fell in love with and married Susie Pulliam.  My father told me that his Grand-parents came to Alabama from Tennessee.  I think that statement does not take any thing from John’s assumption.  Cousin Stella Vaughn, of Nashville, Tenn. says her grandfather (who was also Papa’s grandfather) came to Alabama from N. C. Joseph Vaughn married first Susie Pulliam.

Children:

John Pulliam Vaughn born Feb. 22, 1804 and died March 22, 1890

Pinkney Vaughn married a Miss Stanley daughter of Isaac Stanley in Wilcox Co., Ala.

Benjamin Vaughn born in 1808 and died in 1888

Joseph Vaughn married 2nd a widow by the name of Mrs. Reaves who had one son, James Reaves by her first marriage

Their Children:

Larkin Vaughn married Polly Ann Bonner 28 Nov. 1838 in Wilcox Co., Ala.

William Vaughn

Joseph Madison Vaughn

Elizabeth Vaughn

Sallie Vaughn

Polly Vaughn

Kate Vaughn

Larkin Vaughn married Polly Ann Bonner Nov. 28, 1838. Polly Ann Bonner was the daughter of Benjamin Bonner and Rachel Black Bonner.

Children:

Benjamin Vaughn went to Tennehaw, Texas

Katie married a Mr. Helton

Nealey married a ship officer out of Mobile

Victoria Vaughn married James Gibson

Emma Vaughn died about the age of 18

Mattie Vaughn

All of this was written by Mr. William C. Vaughn. He married Evelyn Nettles and Benjamin Vaughn was her great grandfather.  It must have been the Benjamin Vaughn born in 1808, the son of Joseph Vaughn the 1st.
