Mrs. John Fendley Dead

The people of Oneonta were shocked Saturday morning when the news went out that Mrs. John S. Fendley had died very suddenly at her home on Ingram avenue about seven o’clock. Her death was due to heart disease, an affliction which had given her trouble for many years. However she had not been confined to her bed but was able to do her household duties.

Mrs. Fendley was about 68 years of age and was a noble good woman. She had been a member of the M.E. church South since early youth and lived a consecrated life.

The deceased is survived by her beloved husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lon Yielding of Birmingham, four sons, A.A. Fendley, Mayor of Oneonta and President of the Blount County Bank, Wilson Fendley, Post office inspector located at Poplar Bluff, MO., James Fendley with the T.C.I. Co., Birmingham, and Sidney J. Fendley, manager Oneonta Furniture Co. The children were all present at the funeral, which was held at the M.E. Church South Monday, conducted by her pastor Rev. S.R. Lester. The interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
