John H. Liles

Submitted by Milly Storey

I am a direct descendant of John Morgan Liles and Minerva Jane Brewer Liles. John (b, 10/14/1862 Potts Four Mile Creek in Bibb County - haven't found its location yet) was the son of Wiley T. Liles and Nancy Milam. Nancy's second husband was "Hog John" Fancher. Both Nancy and Hog John were born and raised in Bibb County. Along with my great grandfather John Morgan Liles. Minerva Jane Brewer was the daughter of Silas Brewer and Elizabeth Brewer. She was born in Vance, AL but grew up in Scottsville.

John Morgan and Minerva Liles

John Morgan and Minerva Liles are buried in West Blocton. My mother keeps saying in the "Old West Blockton Cemetery". Which I cannot find the location. John and Minerva Liles had 3 children all born and raised in West Blockton. Jesse James Liles, Grace Liles (married Charles (Buddy) Steele), and Fred Blackstone Liles, Sr. (married Gladys Perry) Fred and Gladys are my grandparents. They had 6 children all born and raised in Bibb County.

(left to right) Fred B. Liles, Sr., John Morgan Liles, Jesse Liles. Taken about 1926.
