I hope these notes will provide clues as to the location of these people during this period of time. I have attempted to keep the spelling of the names as I saw them in the records.

Plaintiff was "nonsuited" by the court.

The plaintiff took a "nonsuit."

Woodruff and Wadkins vs Pilgrim Wood - p. 123
Pilgrim Wood, as garnishee, to answer under oath how much he is indebted to Josiah L. Kennedy and Lewis Kennedy. Wood stated that he was indebted to Josiah L. Kennedy in the sum of $80 due January 1, 1842 (promissory note). Plaintiff had received a judgment against Josiah L. and Lewis Kennedy in the amount of $183.18 at the August Term 1839. Anthony Stoutenborough testified that Josiah and Lewis has no property out of which to pay the judgment. Court ordered that plaintiff recover of Pilgrim Wood the sum of $80 out of which the plaintiffs would pay the cost of this suit.

Bagwell L. Defreese, attorney for the defendant, moved that the court "nonsuit" the plaintiff. Defendant to recover costs from plaintiff.

L. W. Wilson vs Hiram Hemphill - p. 131
John _. Majure, as garnishee, testified that some time in the beginning of the year he executed a promissory note to Hiram Hemphill for $75 due about the 25 Dec. 1842 that he was never notified that the note had been traded or transferred. Hiram Hemphill was a nonresident, living beyond the limits of this state. Notice to be mailed to Hemphill of the proceedings against garnishee.
